Talking recently about odd property locations, I was reminded of a project constructed behind the swish Sydney apartments of my then boss, John Loch (Oz Design: circa 1985. It was on the high side of Glen Street, Milsons Point, overlooking Luna Park. A single building in the building site was of historic significance and protected from demolition. The house was “saved” b maintaining it’s position atop its firm footing of Sydney’s sandstone which was carved out to reveal a bizarre sight. At one time, prior to the taking of this photo, there was a suspension bridge ( similar to what was in one of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies ) allowing passage back and forth. I did have a photo from that time that clearly showed the (still used?) letterbox pinned beside the front door.
I believe the house still exists within the bowels of one of the buildings seen near the “?” on the lower image. If anyone has any further info I’d be interested in an update!
